Victor (Vic) Trenton West, a longtime Claremore jeweler, passed away on October 19, 2022.
A service in celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. at Rice Funeral Services in Claremore on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Vic was born to Jack Walton West and LaRea Faye (Nees) West, on November 8, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri. Vic attended and was baptized at First Baptist Church.
Vic graduated from Claremore High School in 1965 and then attended Oklahoma Military Academy. In 1966, he joined the United States Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Enterprise and the U.S.S. Saratoga aircraft carriers as a munitions expert during the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged in September 1970. He continued his education at Okmulgee Tech.
Vic joined his father at Heins Jewelry in 1977. Vic eventually purchased the business and maintained ownership until his retirement this year. It was the oldest business in Claremore, founded in 1915.
Vic was known for having a good sense of humor and being a jokester. He loved spending time with friends and family, especially his daughter Jodee and granddaughter Rylee, hot rods and old cars, shooting guns and going to the flea markets to see what treasures he could find.
Victor is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and LaRea West.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter Jodee Harris and husband Todd; granddaughter Rylee Harris; son John Potter; sister Sandra VanZandt and husband Doug; brother Marc West and wife Adrienne; and nephew Mitchell West.
The family would like to extend a special thanks for the years of friendship to Mark Kaase and wife Prish, and Curtis Walker.
