Ronald “Dean” Mackey, 83, of Catoosa, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023.
Dean was born on July 28, 1939 in Eureka, Kansas to Orvin and Mae Mackey. He was one of nine children. Dean met his one and only love of his life, Marlene, on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1962 and after two and a half weeks they were married on March 4, 1962. This March they would have been married sixty-one years. They had three children: two sons, Mark and Tommy. Twelve years later, a daughter, Deanna.
Dean served some time in the Army as a reservist. He then worked many years for McDonald Douglas in Tulsa, Oklahoma and then finished his time with McDonald Douglas in Mesa, Arizona where he then retired, moved back to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he went back to work for many different aerospace manufacturing facilities including Nordam, where he officially retired.
In his younger days, Dean was a golden glove boxer, coached little league baseball, played and umpired and adult baseball league. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching his Yankee baseball, and Packers football. He loved his church and teaching Sunday School. He prided himself in having the best lawn in the neighborhood. Dean loved dressing up for Halloween and passing out candy. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Anyone who knew Dean knew that he was the most loving husband, father, papa, brother, and friend anyone could ask for.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Orvin Mackey, mother, Mae Mackey, brothers, Melvin Henry and Arnold Mackey.
Dean is survived by his wife, Marlene Mackey, two sons, Mark and Tommy Mackey, daughter Deanna Mackey-Early, son-in-law, Keith Early, three brothers, Jim Mackey, Bob Mackey, and Junior Mackey, two sisters, Marita “Mert” Debbrecht and Laurel Datson. His grandchildren Taytum and Callan Crockett, his two new step grandchildren, Houston and Destiny Early, and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be held Thursday February 23, 2023 at 10.30am at Lynn lane Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK.
