Fishing 05

Michael Marone

July 4, 1944 ~ March 28, 2020 (age 75)

Michael Richard Marone, was born to Philip and Lena (Ruffatti)  Marone in Canon City, Colorado.  When Mike was a year or two old, he and his family relocated to the Detroit, Michigan area where he spent his youth.

At a very young age, “Mickie”, as they called him when he was young,  loved being outside.  His mother told stories of him crying and throwing fits at a young age because it was getting dark and he had to come inside for the day.  As he matured and became a young man, he was very active and athletic.  He played ice hockey, football, loved camping and got to spend a good part of his summers with his adoptive grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Woods.  Grandma and Grandpa Woods had a big influence on Mike’s life, as they lived on a farm and he loved it!  He was treated like his cousins that stayed on the farm and was assigned his share of chores.  He dreamed of having land and a farm.

After graduating high school in 1962, Mike decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Army.  Due to a football injury that he had acquired in high school, the Army did not accept him so  he attended a technical school in Detroit for a year before deciding to move to Oklahoma to attend Spartan Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  While attending school there he met Judy,  his wife of 30 years and the mother of his four children, Philip, Richard, Kristy and Michael Jason.

Mike was an airplane mechanic. He worked for American Airlines for 30 years.   He raised cattle, first as a hobby, then more of a business, but the whole time, he enjoyed it.  He also enjoyed fishing, along with a plethora of other outdoor activities.

Preceding Mike in death are his Mother and Father, Lena (Ruffatti) Marone and Philip Marone, his daughter- in- law, Sheila Marone, his grandson, Philip Bryce Marone, his brother- in- law, Glenn Grace, and his nephew, Adam Grace.

Mike is survived by his four children:   Philip Marone and his wife Kelli,of Claremore, Oklahoma, and their children, Brittany, Lindsey, Dakota, and Cheyanne.  Richard Marone and his wife Yvette, of Perkins, Oklahoma, and their children, Dylan, Eric and Ty,and granddaughter- in- law Seina Marone (who is expecting Mike’s 2nd great grandbaby in June).   Kristy Marone of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and her children Chandler, Seth and Ryle, great grandson, Carter.    Michael Jason Marone, and his wife Amy of Chelsea, Oklahoma, and their children Darian, Hunter and McKenzie.    Mike’s sister, Janis (Marone) Grace, of Flower Mound, Texas, and her two children Justin and Shannon.

Mike passed from this life on Saturday, March 28, 2020.  He was 75 years old.
