Mae A. Stolhand was born the oldest of three children to Unie Marion Ellison and Rosie Lietch Ellison on October 15, 1927 in Rome, Missouri. She had one sister, one brother, three half-brothers and two half-sisters. She spent most of her youth in Rome. While visiting her half-brother, Valdo, she attended Oowala School, where she met the love of her life, Donald F. Stolhand in February 1942. They married on March 15, 1946, after his return from World War II and were married for 69 years and 8 months. There were three children born of the marriage: Donna Mae Barker, Judi Ann Johnson and Gary Don Stolhand. They resided in Claremore, Oklahoma all of their married life.

Mae worked as a Nurse’s Aide for several years, but she loved being a homemaker. She enjoyed getting together with friends and family for a friendly game of pitch, pinochle or dominoes.

She had seven grandchildren: Shelly Denise Stone Ellison, Paul Johnson (Mary), Wade Johnson, Trenton Johnson, Bryar (Bubba) Johnson, Robi Caye Gayman (David) and Summer Williams (Morgan); eleven great grandchildren: Bobby Dale, David Glen and Ashly Dawn Ellison; Macie Marie, McKinley Morgan and Michael Moss Williams; Anna Harrison (Jeff), Christian, Mari, Tavie and Ryah Gayman and two great-great grandchildren: Nathan James and Lillian Renee Ellison.

She is survived by two children, Donna Barker and Judi Johnson and Dawn Stolhand (whom she loved like a daughter); six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; as well as many nephews, nieces and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Stolhand; son, Gary Don Stolhand; her parents, Unie and Rosie Ellison; sister, Marie Johnson; brother Bobby Ellison; half-brothers, Valdo, Vernie and Mack Ellison; half-sisters, Ruby Neer and Murl Bibb; granddaughter, Shelly Ellison; and son-in-laws, Jim Stone, Ben Barker and Tommy Johnson.
