Lisa Rena Gillilan (Hoofnagle), age 56, passed away at her home on September 21, 2021 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. She was the epitome of strength and faith and she always knew her God would take care of her. She is now at peace with Jesus and her family and friends that have gone before her.
Lisa was born on January 20, 1965 in Chanute, Kansas. She attended and graduated from Bixby High School in 1983, where she played basketball. She met the love of her life in 1982 and they were united in marriage on August 24, 1985. Together they owned and operated Gillilan Construction until their retirement in 2019.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Brian Gillilan, of the home; daughter, Sara McKinney, of the home; son, Kevin Gillilan of Tulsa and her granddaughter, Addison McKinney of Tulsa who she absolutely adores and loved to spoil. She is also survived by her dad, Marc Hoofnagle, mother Sharon (Clay) Wagoner, brother, Barry (Jennifer) Hoofnagle, sister, Mary (Layton) Chambers, and sister, Nisha Hoofnagle. Ten nieces and nephews that she loved to spend time with: Stuart (Maria) Hoofnagle, Sydney Hoofnagle, Colton Hoofnagle, Kaytie (Clay) Eliasen, Allyson (Justin) Kremer, Samantha (Dylan) Snodgrass. 1 great niece Zoey Hoofnagle and 1 great nephew Mason Kremer. She also has 2 more great nephews on the way that I know she is already loving on.
She was preceded in death by her Mom, Donna Hoofnagle; her paternal grandparents, Stu and Nadine Hoofnagle, of Grove, Oklahoma, her maternal grandparents, Lester (Maxine) Koch of Chanute, Kansas and her father in law Dan Gillilan of Bixby, Oklahoma.
Lisa loved her God first, Family second, and then the Kansas City Chiefs...and also her Oklahoma University Sooners. Our family is quite divided by the OU vs OSU bedlam but it was all in fun! She made friends anywhere she went and never met a stranger. She is that one in a million person that people just flocked to. We have always said it is never goodbye just see you later.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday September 28, 2021. Her funeral will be on Wednesday September 29, 2021 at 11 am, at Rice Funeral Home with burial at Dick Duck Cemetery both in Catoosa. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lisa’s life.
The family would like to thank Rice Funeral Home for taking such amazing care of our family. We would also like to thank her friends and the community for the outpouring of love, prayers and memories shared with our daughter, sister, mother, aunt, niece and best friend Lisa Gillilan!
