Lena Ruth Staggs

Lena Ruth Kilbourn Staggs of Claremore, Oklahoma went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Friday, April 14th, 2023, at the age of 76.

Visitation and the Celebration of Life service will take place on Thursday, April 20th at Westwood Church Claremore. A morning of visitation will begin at 9:00am, with the funeral service following at 10:00am.

Lena was born November 11th, 1946, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Dee Loise and Carrie Kilbourn. When Lena was 7 years old, her family moved from Oklahoma to Stockton, California. She attended Elmwood Elementary School where she met Samuel Staggs in the 8th grade. What she didn’t realize, was that she had met the man God intended her to marry one day. She continued through Franklin High School, with Sam at her side, graduating in 1966. After graduation, Lena accepted Sam’s proposal and the two of them were happily wed on October 22nd, 1966.

Lena loved doing just about anything that involved being outside. She enjoyed camping and walking, especially along the beach where she would pick up any kind of trinket she could find. When she found the opportunity, she would draw what she saw. She particularly loved drawing cartoons, animation, and people. Lena could draw a picture of Jesus that would bring you to tears.

She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Samuel Staggs; children, Lisa Morgan and boyfriend West Loveland, Steven Staggs and wife Jodi. Lisa was the first to bless Lena with two grandchildren, Daniel Clark, Andrea Clark and fiancé Brandon Johnson. Andrea later blessed Lena with great-grandchildren, Cierra, Bryson, and Cerina. Steven also blessed Lena with two more grandchildren, Erika Staggs Snead and Nathaniel Staggs. Erika blessed Lena with her fourth great-grandchild, Jacob Staggs. Her last living brother, Clarence Kilbourn. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and more.

Lena is reunited with those who went on before her; parents, Dee Loise and Carrie Thweatt Kilbourn; sisters, Nora Garrett, Bridie Crump, Francis Crosswhite, and infant sister, Janie; brothers, Leroy Kilbourn, Willie Kilbourn, and Frank Kilbourn.
