Edwin Doty was born on June 28th, 1940, in Tiawah Oklahoma to Orval Doty and Dolly Faye Doty. Edwin was the oldest child of Orval and Dolly Faye followed by Orlene and Gene.
Edwin was drafted and served in the US Army from August 1963 to August 1965 with the rank of PFC. He served overseas in Frankfort Germany and was discharged at Ft. Hamilton, NY.
Edwin met Sharon VanClief dated for eight months before they were married in January of 1962. The two of them were married for 59 years.
Edwin worked for Centrilift, now known as Baker Hughes from 1982-2004. He retired with 2 patents related to submersible oil pumps, and his name is associated with 6 other related patents.
Some of his hobbies and talents were gardening, carpentry, always helping others with special projects, and telling funny stories and jokes. he was also an avid steel guitar player, Vice President of the Oklahoma Steel Guitar Association and a member of several local bands.
Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Dolly Faye Doty. Edwin is survived by his wife Sharon, his children Brenda and husband Kevin Graham of Farmington, NM, Dana Doty of Glenpool, OK, Janel and husband Jimmy Olivier of Collinsville, OK. Lawrence is also survived by his siblings Orlene and husband Glenn Boydston of Claremore, OK and Gene Doty of Claremore, Ok.
Edwin was blessed to have 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren with another due in January. Also, one nephew and numerous nieces and cousins who he was more like a brother to. Lastly Jeff Sanders and his wife Marisa and their 4 children whom he treated just like family.
