John Malcom (Jack) Allton

John Malcolm (Jack) Allton, age 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2022, in his home with family at his side.

John was born April 7, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joe and Geri Allton. The family moved to Claremore in 1951. They then moved to Bartlesville in 1955, where John attended school from 3rd grade through high school. He graduated from College High School in 1966.

John drove for Major Leasing from 1966-1969. He also worked for Doenges Ford. In 1972, he worked for Green Country Distribution. John drove a semi from Green Country picking up Miller Distribution in Fort Worth, Texas. John married the love of his life and best friend Lanie on August 2, 1976 in Durant, Oklahoma. He taught Lanie how to drive a semi.

In 1981 John and Lanie started their trucking career at CFI in Joplin, Missouri. They later worked for Melton Truck Lines, Mercer Transportation, MS Carriers, and Landstar Ranger based out of Jacksonville, Florida. They retired from Landstar Ranger in 2020 with over 5 million miles in a 43-year career of team driving.

Uncle John, or UJ, as he was affectionately known to his nieces and nephew, was a constant source of wisdom, support, laughter and love. They absolutely adored him and thought he hung the moon. They will miss seeing him sitting in his chair at the dining room table, that has held so many wonderful memories for 3 generations.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Geri Allton; in-laws, Larry and Dottie Shartle; sister, Kathleen Livingston; and brother-in-law Jack Livingston.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are: wife, Lanie Allton; sister, Carlotta Gore; nephew Zack Livingston and wife Katherine; nieces, Emily Livingston, Mandy Piper and husband Zach, and Cherry Shufeld and Jason Hayden; cousins, Matt Burke and Kevin Burke; 5 great nephews; and his beloved fur babies, Gizmo and Jake Allton.

John will be missed by many friends and family members.

John and Lanie adopted all their animals and in honor of that ask for donations be made to OK Save a Dog Society in lieu of flowers.
