Obituary
Howard Wayne Spencer passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023. Wayne, as he was known to all, was born to Ira and Lillian Spencer on April 27, 1936 , in Olive, Oklahoma. A decorated cowboy and horseman, he competed in steer wrestling and calf roping. He spent his early years on the professional rodeo trail earning his PRCA gold card and training horses for the sport he loved. He continued that into his later years as well as owning a boarding barn and riding lesson business in Tulsa. He enjoyed hauling his grandchildren to junior rodeos and others who also called him “Papa”. Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him joy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation is set for Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Rice Funeral Services in Claremore Oklahoma. Funeral services are Friday, May 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. The service will be held at the Olive Baptist Church in Olive, Oklahoma.
