Glenn Dean Selvy, born June 11, 1937 in Marion, Kansas. Raised and lived in Kansas and Oklahoma for 21 years. Went to Kansas University and studied Electrical Engineering. He met the love of his life, Sara Selvy in 1958 and was married in October 1959 for over 50 years. His marriage to Sara was the sparkle in his eye and he lived the loving example of commitment, faithfulness and unconditional love. Dean had 3 children, daughters Laura Loyd of Claremore, Karen Mellen & husband Byron of Broken Arrow, and son Patrick Selvy & wife Kelli of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Dean worked as a System Engineer with IBM for 33 years. During this time he enjoyed the evolution of computers from mainframe tape libraries to all the info you have on a phone today. Dean took early retirement at 55 but really didn’t retire. Instead he enjoyed more time with his kids as he worked in companies where they worked. He was a warehouse manager at B & B with his son and then at Carpet Direct with his son-in-law, then data analyst at All American Fitness with his two daughters, and even customer service at Walmart just for fun. Finally, he enjoyed being a proud owner and InnKeeper at the Carriage House Bed & Breakfast in Claremore. One of Dean’s greatest joys was serving and worshiping in the Methodist Church. He fulfilled many positions in committees and leadership roles, was a youth leader, helped with the food bank, was a Stephen Minister, went on a mission trip to Poland, just to mention a few and loved teaching Sunday School for over 30 years finally retiring from teaching last fall at age 82. He was the most caring and loving care giver to his wife during her last 5 years of life and loved her even more than when they first met. Dean has been blessed with 9 Grandchildren, Greg Loyd and wife Becky, Brock Gruenberg and wife Jordan, Becky Blackmon and husband Michael, Cameron Gruenberg and wife Jessie, Bobby Selvy, Megan Keller and husband Brandon, Kelsey Wheetley and husband Derrick, PJ Selvy and wife Cydnie, and Kyle Oskey and Husband Jake. His quiver is even fuller with 12 Great Grandchildren. Dean has a countless number of dear friends throughout the years and cherished many years of fellowship and fun. He treated his family to many family vacations and a ski boat providing years of laughter and fun. Dean traveled to Israel, China, Paris, Germany, Korea, Philippines, Hong Kong, Mexico, Canada and many, many places in the US. His family has a tradition of family reunion for over 20 years and ties that bind them together in Christian Love. Dean will be missed very much by friends and family and we look forward to seeing him again in eternity.
