Gerald Wayne Jones was born on September 16th, 1936 in Blue Jacket, Oklahoma. He was born to Elbert Huston and Opal Marguarite (Johnson) Jones. The Jones family moved to Claremore when Gerald was young and he attended Claremore schools. He was a force to reckoned with on the football field and a proud graduate of Claremore High school graduating Class of 1954.
After High school Gerald was a career airplane mechanic, which he loved. After 28 years he retired from American Airlines in 1996. He admitted the main reason he retired is that they had started using computers and he didn’t want any part of that.
Gerald’s high school sweet heart was Kay Latch. They were able to reunite later in life and for 25 years they enjoyed traveling and being together. They affectionately called each other “Compadres” and “Partners in Crime”
Gerald was a huge sports fan and if you stopped by his house he was always tuned into a game, weather it was basketball, baseball or even golf. But his passion was for his Sooners. He didn’t look at seasons as most do, it was either football season or it wasn’t.
There is no doubt Gerald grew up in a loving and very full home. He had 5 siblings, Marjorie Sumter, Louise Clark, Marguarite Lloyd, Kenny Jones and Gene Jones. All of which have preceded Gerald in eternal rest.
Gerald leaves behind a multitude of nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly.
