Gerald Ray Johnson, 86, of Claremore, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 24, 2023 surrounded by his family singing and praising the Lord as he entered his heavenly home.
Gerald was born July 13, 1936 in Pharoah, OK to Buck and Alice Johnson. Upon graduating from Del City High School he entered the United States Air Force, where he served 4 Active years and 4 Reserve years.
After being discharged from the Airforce, two of his buddies introduced him to the love of his life, Peggy Pickard and they married 6 months later. They lived a full 63 years of married life together.
He was a member of Claremore First Assembly where he served 20 years as deacon and faithfully attended until passing.
He served his community as the local Meadow Gold Milk man to individual homes and businesses for several years.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with grandkids and great grandkids.
Daddy never met a stranger. Will Rogers was known for never meeting a man he didn’t like. Well, there was no one who ever met daddy, who didn’t like him. He lived the Scripture, Luke 10:27, “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.”
He is survived by his loving wife Peggy Johnson, 3 daughters, Cheryl Turnbull & husband Stan, Becky Morehouse & husband Kevin, Jera Sunday & husband Mike, 9 grandkids, 11 great grandkids, one sister Patricia Larson of Harrison, AR and a host of other family and friends.
