Obituary

Gerald E. "Jerry" Dunahay, 74, of Claremore, Oklahoma passed away on October 6, 2020 after a brief battle with cancer. Jerry was born on October 11, 1945, to Elmus and Frances Dunahay, in Claremore, Oklahoma. He spent 53 years loving his wife Dianne.

Soon after high school, Jerry joined the national guard where he served for several years. Jerry worked in the electrical industry for his entire career. He had the honor of being mentored by one of the best in the industry, Gene Marrs, with whom he worked with his entire career. He retired from Marrs Electric in 2008, a company which he had built from the ground up and is still a well known family company to this day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmus and Frances Dunahay of Verdigris, Oklahoma, sisters Francille Yandle of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ruth Ann Kinlinger of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Harold Duck of Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

He is Survived by wife, Dianne Dunahay of Claremore, Oklahoma, brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Marilyn Dunahay of Claremore, Oklahoma, son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Nena Dunahay of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, daughter and son-in-law, JimBob and Brandy Cottingim od Oologah, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Delaney Cottingim, age 19 of Oologah, Oklahoma, Tristan Cottingim, age 17 of Oologah, Oklahoma, Tyler Dunahay, age 15 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Bryce Dunahay, age 12 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jerry was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and father figure to many. He was hardworking, loyal, and kind. He made others wealthy with his love, wisdom, and hard working hands. He was supportive, truthful, and a hero to many. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy. He was an avid golfer, fisher, and sports fanatic. He loved watching his grandkids activities and sporting events. He loved anything to do with the University of Oklahoma football, LA Dodgers, and Green Bay Packers.
