Gary D. Jones of Claremore, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, December the 18th at Invictus Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City from Covid-related complications. Gary was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 11th, 1940 to parents Guy Thomas Jones and Lola Pearl (Hamilton) Jones. He was one of six children and the family made their home in Turley, Oklahoma. Gary left home to serve in the US Army. During his military service he was stationed in Hawaii, Germany and other locations. Upon leaving the service Gary returned to Tulsa. Throughout his working years Gary held a wide variety of professions some of which include service station attendant, Sears delivery driver, cafe and grill owner, bus driver for the City of Tulsa, dump truck owner/operator and cook. It was during the time Gary was working at Sears that he met his wife Frances Ann Knight while delivering a bed to her home in Tulsa. He liked the bed so much, he wanted to lie down in it but was told the only way he was getting in it was with a marriage license. So he married Frances on May 23rd, 1968 to keep it. The marriage outlived that bed by several decades for a total of 52 years. During his life Gary held many titles and was proud of each of them; husband, father, grandpa, papa, great grandfather, brother, friend and ornery character to name a few. Gary is survived by wife Frances, sons Martin Worch of Germany, Don Jones of Tulsa, Wayne Jones and wife Kyla of Claremore, Tommy Jones and wife Crystal of Broken Arrow, Mark Jones and wife Toni of Ada, sister Jane Brinlee and husband Larry of Ramona, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, brothers John R. Jones, Thomas A. Jones, Raymond W. Jones and sister Charlene Redmond.
Visitation is scheduled at 4-6 p.m. Sunday
at Rice Funeral Service and Cremation Center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday
at Claremore First Assembly of God.
