Freda LaNell Humphrey, fondly known as Nellie, Nell, Gertie, Gert, Mom and Nana, will now be laid to rest at New Eucha Cemetery between her dear Mother and late Husband. Nellie suffered from chronic lung disease for years and can now breath freely to run with those who passed before her. We know she is now either holding precious babies or pulling in some monster catfish and smiling a content smile knowing All Is Well.
Freda was born on Dec. 17, 1946 in Tulsa, OK to Leonard Pitts and LaRue Bruton. She is survived by her brother Jim Pitts from Arkansas, her daughters Staci Kay from Vinita, Traci Langley & husband Bryce from Claremore, and Mandi Tipton from KS. Her most precious grandchildren are Coleman & Kayci Langley, Tori, Kadan, & Cambri Tipton. Her parents, her husband, Tony Humphrey and her grandson, Gavin Cox, preceded her in death.
Freda “Nellie” was very fond of dogs and always had a Chihuahua companion. She even had “Nell’s Kountry Kennel” in Bluejacket for several years where they raised lots of different breeds, including their favorite English Bulldogs. Other hobbies included fishing, sewing baby blankets with matching pillows by hand for each grandchild, and she was very good at any craft project you asked her to help with. Nellie was also always cracking jokes and poking fun; she was a huge part of many “girls outings” and family get-togethers. Her smile and wave from the front door as you left the driveway, every single visit, will be deeply missed.
