Forrest Conrad Hanes was born August 23, 1933, to Arthur Cicero and Anna Katheryn (Eye) Hanes, the second of four boys. He passed to be with our Lord and Savior on November 28, 2020, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.
Forrest attended school in Sageeyah and Claremore High School graduating in 1951. after graduation he stayed home to continue helping his family with their farm dairying and in the fields.
Forrest married Bonita Ann (Peace) on June 5, 1970 and they continued working at the farm. With this union he gained two daughters, Connie and Mary.
Through all his years of dairying, he was named top dairyman in Oklahoma 3 years in a row. He was very proud of his quality herds even though they were small, he still managed to out produce larger herds. He farmed wheat, soybeans, and corn, even having a record wheat harvest, 75 bushels to the acre. He sold his herd and only farmed for a short time before buying another small herd of Holsteins that he milked for a few more years before ending production in 1987. He went to work at the Farmers Co-Op in Nowata and later became the general manager of both that store and the one in Collinsville before retiring in 1995. Retirement at home didn't last long, he went to work at Lowe's until officially retiring in 2015.
Forrest was an ordained Deacon in the Northeast Association of Free Will Baptists and taught Sunday School for many years. He loved telling others about God and has lived his life for the Lord, always serving others.
In his spare time, he enjoyed yard work, especially his flower beds, making everyone their favorite pie, and just having his family around him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sherman Hanes; father-in-law Amos Peace.
