Dorothy Lee Grimett was born September 19, 1934, to Audra and William McKinley White in Wagoner County, Oklahoma. She attended Lincoln High School graduating in 1952. Dorothy went on to attend Claremore Beauty College and after graduation she opened her own beauty salon. She was a Licensed Cosmetologist for 36 years. She was also a member of The Order of The Eastern Star.
Dorothy met and married Floyd Grimett June 30, 1957. They had no children together but when married, she got the joy of raising Rhonda Grimett. Later in their union, they were blessed to love and take in Gwen and Essie. John Curkell (Green) Grimett was then adopted as their son. She also took on the responsibility of raising Victoria Alexandria (Green) Singleton for many years.
Dorothy loved to travel by car, plane, cruise ship, or train. She was blessed to have traveled all states except two. She loved to play spades, board games, and dominoes all in which she used as a teaching opportunity. At the start of a spades game, she always said “If you want to win, sit in front of me”; then she would laugh. She loved being surrounded by family and cherished them deeply. She will be forever missed and carried in the hearts of many.
She is preceded in death by: Floyd Grimett (spouse), Audra White (mother), William McKinley White (father), James White (brother), Corine White (sister-in-law), Randolph White (brother), Jerry Lee White (brother), William M. White Jr. (brother), Ronald Lee Johnson (brother-in-law), Essie Reaves (daughter/caregiver). She leaves behind her brother Roshan White Sr. (Bernice White), sister Vanilla Johnson, daughters Gwen Johnson and Victoria Singleton (Alex), son John Grimett, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, along with an abundance of cousins and friends.
