It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Diana Lynne Garcia, at the age of 69 on April 20, 2023. Diana was born in San Diego, CA, on July 30, 1953, to the late Barbara Jane Crabtree and Leroy Rothman. Diana was a graduate of Chelsea High School, class of 1971, and remained passionate about her alma mater throughout her life. Her deep love for her friendships with those fellow alumni was a testament to her loyalty and dedication to the school and those who surrounded her with love.
Diana was a faithful and hardworking mother and was the link between many in our family. Though she held many different job titles throughout her working career, her primary focus was always being a mom and raising her kids. Diana was so many things to so many people; a mom, a dad, a wife, a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a cousin, a mother-in-law, a Nana, a friend to so many, but most of all a devout follower and daughter of Jesus Christ. She modeled faith and spirituality in the most authentic way for many. It was messy, and it wasn’t perfect, but we know at the end of the day what she cherished most…her relationship with Jesus and her family.
As a devoted Christian, Diana loved the church and was always in pursuit of a stronger relationship with Jesus. She spent many years of her life sharing the gospel with little ones in children’s churches across the many states she resided in. Her gift of slowing down and meeting children where they were shone through in her authentic and compassionate approach. Diana was a loving and selfless servant to her children and the children of others, and in her later years, she dedicated herself to being a Nana to all of her grandchildren, making each one feel special and loved.
Diana is survived by her five daughters, Amanda Montgomery, Heather Woolman, Hannah Roark and her husband John, Susan Cain and her partner Rodney Mathis, Laura Munroe, and her son, Tobie Munroe and his wife Danialle. She is also survived by her sister, Connie Brandon, and her husband, Palmer. Diana's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Zakarye, Sydney, Elijah, Benjamin, Rachel, Michael, Alex, Gabrielle, Solomon, September, Jeremiah, Adella, Natalie, Shai, Xelia, Eleanor, Azia, Tateum, Jax, Jozalynn, and Henry whom she all adored and cherished.
We invite all who knew and loved our mother to join us for a come-and-go Celebration of Life gathering on May 28, 2023, from 4-6 pm at Cedarpoint Church in Claremore.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Chelsea (bgclubchelsea.org) in honor of our mother's life and legacy. Diana was a kind, compassionate, and loving soul; we will miss her deeply.
