Connie Haugen, 78, of Claremore, OK, went to be with the Lord on February 25th, 2023 after a good life with family and friends.
Connie was the daughter to Dolly Bench-Thompson and Eurban Cantrell of Miami, OK. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, George Haugen and two daughters, Julie Haugen and Lara Everding. Also, her brothers, Tommy Cantrell of Miami and Norman Cantrell of Claremore and Jimmy Cantrell of Topeka, Kansas. Connie and George also took in a foreign exchange student from Kosovo 30 years ago, Visar Belegu, who remains an active family member even today.
She graduated in 1962 from NE High School in Oklahoma City after her early years of living in Miami as a child. In her adult years as her children were being raised, they returned to Miami in 1976 for the rest of their children’s upbringing. Later, Connie and George moved to Grove to live near Grand Lake where they shared many happy family memories with their young children boating and water skiing. She worked at Miami Baptist Hospital, later known as Integris, were she served at the Maintenance Assistant Administrator for many years until she retired.
Her focus was on her family and the Episcopal Church in Grove, as she was a faithful servant of God. She enjoyed cooking, hosting family gatherings, her doggies, and water skiing. Her retirement years were spent traveling with her husband with their Honda Gold Wing and later a fifth wheel trailer to many parts of America. She had a life well lived and full of those who loved her dearly. She will be greatly missed.
