Obituary

Calvin Eugene Washburn passed from this life on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the age of 92.

Calvin was born on March 26, 1927 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to parents, Frederick and Lucille (Wood) Washburn.

On August 31, 1944 Calvin enlisted in the Army. While he was in the Army he worked at the Pentagon as a Tech Sargent (ESI messenger). He worked so hard delivering coded messages to the General and his staff that he wore out three pairs of shoes. He received the WWII Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 29, 1946.

Calvin was a great dad and was fun to be around. He enjoyed traveling and going to football games with Joe.

Calvin is survived by sons: Larry Washburn and wife Sharon, and Timothy Washburn; grandchildren: Stephen Washburn and wife Kim and Jay Young; great grandchildren:   Emilee, Santino, Jackson, McKenna, Gavin,and Jameson; a brother: Joe Merle Washburn, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, his wife of 73 years: Mary Ella Washburn; and son: Ronald Washburn; brothers: Herschel Washburn and Robert Allen Washburn; and one sister: Margaret Bell Washburn.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Rice Funeral service in Claremore, Oklahoma. The Celebration of Life will be 1:00 PM, Friday, February 14, 2020 at Chapel of the Garden, with Pastor Gradon Cryole officating, at Rice Funeral Service. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Woodlawn Cemetery.
