Bobby Darrell Moore was born July 6, 1936 and passed away June 8, 2020. He was 83 years old.
He was born in Trousdale, Oklahoma. He attended school at Trousdale grade school until 1943 when the family moved to Salinas, California. He graduated from Salinas Union High School in 1955.
In June of 1955 he joined the United States Navy. He became a Hard Hat Salvage Diver. That's where he learned to weld. He then got Honorably Discharged from the Navy in October of 1959.
He then went into business with his brother Lynn Moore, running a Front End Alignment shop. They also had a stock car #57 that Bob drove and Lynn put back together after the races. After a few years at the front end alignment shop, Bob decided that he was going to get into the Ironworkers Union.
He joined Ironworkers Local Union 377 in San Francisco, California on March 1, 1962. He transferred out of Local 377 June 30, 1962 and transferred into Ironworkers Local 584 in Tulsa, Oklahoma on July 1, 1962.
He worked on many jobs in Oklahoma and traveled all over the United States. Jobs such as the Williams Center, Oral Roberts, the IPE Building on the Tulsa Fair Grounds, Keystone Dam, PSO in Oologah just to name a few. He then started traveling putting up communication towers. He would take his family on vacations while he would work and that allowed his family to see the country with him while he worked.
He then served on the Oklahoma State AFL-CIO Executive board, Seat #2 from 1975 thru 1985. He held many offices in Local 584 such as President, and was elected FST/Business Manager in 1982 thru 1985. He then became an Honorary Member July 1, 1988. And then retired from the Ironworkers Local 584 on October 1, 2001.
Bob enjoyed traveling all over the world, hunting and fishing. He traveled to Ireland, Scotland, as well as all over the United States. He enjoyed pheasant, quail and turkey hunting. He would go to Costa Rica to catch rooster fish, sailfish and really anything that would bite. Costa Rica was one of his favorite places to travel to.
Bob was very politically active in the Rogers County Democratic Party. He would donate to everyone that would be running on the Democratic ticket. It was one of his passions.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Burnice Moore, his mother Opal Moore, his sister Ferrell Moore and his 2 brothers Lynn Moore and Jim Moore.
He is survived by his brother Jerry Moore and wife Stacy Moore of Deland, Florida, sons Shawn Moore and his significant other Fay Jamison of Chelsea, Oklahoma, Jamie Moore and his wife Shirley Moore of Wagoner, Oklahoma. Grandsons Mathew Moore, Michael Mason. Granddaughter Danielle Leo. And Great Grandson Leo Mason. And numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.
He was also preceded in death by many, many brother Ironworkers.
