Betty Lou Blevins was born on May 20th, 1931, to parents, Roy and Ethel Davenport in Indianola, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on Monday April 3rd, 2023, at the Courtyards Assisted Living in Claremore, Oklahoma. A graveside service and burial will be held at Wards Grove Cemetery, Monday, April 10th, 2023 at 1:00pm. Good Shepherd Hospice Chaplain, Pastor Steven Griffith will be officiating.
Betty was born and raised in Indianola and enjoyed playing basketball in her younger years. While living there, she grew up and went to school with the love of her life, Ossie Gene Blevins. They were wed in holy matrimony on April 7, 1948. Soon after, they moved to California for work, and started a family. While living there, she gave birth to Larry Gene Blevins on January 17, 1949, and to Janet Blevins McKellips on August 24, 1953.
She moved back to Oklahoma where she worked as a waitress for Roy’s Café, a salesclerk at Anthony’s Clothing Store, a clerk at Warehouse Market, and helped her husband with Gene’s Appliance Service. Some of her hobbies included traveling with her fishing friends, and playing cards and dominos with anyone who was game. Family was her priority, and she always made time for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her father; Roy Davenport, mother; Ethel Davenport, brothers; Curtis, Woodrow, Jimmy, LeRoy, son; Larry, and son-in-law; Dean.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter; Janet McKellips, grandchildren; Heather Blevins, Jeremy Blevins, Allen McKellips and Darcee Burgess, Adam and Cassie McKellips, Bonus Tina and Omar Eltalea, great grandchildren; Devon Blevins, Lauryn Blevins, Darius Blevins, Kelsey and Garrett Finney, Paige McKellips, Nate McKellips, Zoie McKellips and Rubie McKellips, Bonus Chloe Burgess, Taylor Burgess, and Sarah Eltalea.
Mom is our definition of a special person who was fantastic, exceptional, unique, and enduring! She filled our lives with happiness and sweet feelings that we will carry in our hearts till we meet again.
