Arlis “Papa” Ray Jones
Arlis Ray Jones, 88, died peacefully in his sleep on September 3, 2021. He was born in Broken Arrow, OK on May 13, 1933, to parents Arlis Andrew Jones and Maggie Leona Welch.
Arlis was drafted by the U.S. Army on June 17, 1953 and served until May 1955. Most of his time was spent in Korea, earning him a handful of medals including National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korea Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
Arlis was survived by his daughter, Kathy Jones, grandson, Jason Burdick, great-grandchildren Jacy, Ashton, and Bryce Burdick, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased in death by his wife Robbie Sue Jones, daughter, Debbie Jones, brother, Eugene Jones, sister, Lorene Oliver, and partner, Naomi Elder.
Papa was the most stubborn man you’d ever have met. He loved peanut brittle and orange sherbet, watching old western movies, mowing and keeping up with his yard, and spending time with his loved ones.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
